FAQ
« on: September 25, 2007, 07:23:41 PM »

Welcome to the Boxster Racing Board.

Over time there have been many threads that have been popular and informative.  I will attempt to point you to especially poignant message threads here.

Tires

Suspension
Maximum Performance Alignment

Brakes
Upgrade to GT3 brake ducts

Engine

Drivetrain
Gearing
Lightweight flywheel
Wheel bearing replacement

Driving

Exhaust
Spoiler problem after exhaust upgrade

This is "under construction" - yeah, yeah, it's a cliche, but this is still a test for now!

Guys, please propose especially useful threads here, I'll take a quick look at them and if they really seem to be "world class", I'll add them to the FAQ.  I'll then delete your message from the FAQ thread, so please don't take that personally!  Smiley

Right now, it would be great if you would comb through older posts and really try to pick out the "best of the best" for the FAQ.  And say why in your post.  Thanks!

  Thanks,
  Gary

Ok, guys, there has been a lot of discussion about shocks and springs over the years.  Does this deserve to be the definitive thread on this?  Can you guys hunt down what you think should be the definitive thread?  Or start one?

  Thanks,
  Gary

I would like to see the anti-dive/squat in the suspension links, roll-center and center of gravity in stock and different aftermarket settings (ride height, shims and other stuff would play with this) and other suspension linkage geometries that have been tried. I have heard as a rumor that someone built more anti-squat into the rear geometry (either with shims or actually moving the linkage ; the latter seems unlikely unless they were really hardcore). This would theoretically result in more throttle controlled steering but a lot of bad things can happen too so I am just interested. I think if we had the geometry for the stock suspension linkage front and back and the COG (Gravity centers over front and rear wheels would be nice too) then we could draw up some ways to make the suspension more amenable to aggressive driving. If anyone has these variables I could put them into a program that runs the geometries and work up some better stuff.

Then again maybe you were just referring to an aftermarket spring/dampers/sway bar guide in which case I am probably boring you about now in which case I am sorry. If this is the case are you looking for a guide just on how the components work in theory or more applicable guides to how to tune your boxster and which set ups appear to be best?

This might be it's own thread in which case I hope someone moves it.
